With the Mail on Sunday,

With the Mail on Sunday, I was on a panel discussing the way forward, post #COVID19#Coronavirus shutdown.

The key message was all lives matter and all actions must consider this as a priority. Economics is important for poverty also reduces life expectancy. The new post COVID-19 world will have to address the economics issues, I suggest a 1% reduction in the wealth of the top 5% of the population will help, considerably to lift out of poverty the bottom 20% of the population. Taxes will have to go up, however, in this special circumstance, it will have to be a new way to ask the top5% to contribute say 1% of their wealth.

Very rarely are taxes, targetted, specifically and exclusively at the very top for example 5% of the population. Tackling Tax avoidance and taxing companies registered overseas will also have to be considered.
My advice, by comparison, which was health focused was relatively easy to give.

I feel, there is a reluctance to discuss a tiny wealth reduction by the super wealthy in order to assist the large numbers of the population on lower income or no income categories.
