Comparing different vaccine platforms against Coronavirus.

The UK has now licenced two vaccines, good news for regaining control over the Coronavirus.

Now to immunise at pace, make it a 24/7 operation.

Both nanoparticle vaccines (Pfysier-BioNtech, Moderna) and the vector vaccines (UK- AstraZeneca-Oxford University, Russian – Sputnik V) will achieve the aim of making human cells make the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, express it on its surface and make the immune system generate immunity plus immune memory.

Key message is take whichever vaccine is on offer and as soon as possible. Once licenced, it means the vaccines have passed their efficacy & safety tests.

They will protect against a potentially serious disease causing virus.
