Reduction in quarantine period for COVID-19 from 14 days to 10 days.
Conversation with @eddiemair on @LBC, why a reduction from 14 days gold standard quarantine to 10 days may be a reasonable compromise. A 10 days quarantine period with observations, checks & assessments, may be OK, may result is better compliance.
Most exposed people will get infected if they are going to be, within 3 to 7 days, 10 days is a reasonable compromise, provided a good assessment is also undertake at the end of quarantine.
Have a checklist, check one is not infected at the end of the quarantine period.
Very important: If at any time during self isolation as a quarantine measure if you develop any signs and symptoms, consider this to indicate you have converted to being a case and the isolation period is 10 days from the date of new symptom onset and if possible get tested too.
We must also discuss mass testing of students, using private labs, instead of investing in NHS labs and with inaccurate test kits, thus what exactly does a negative result under these circumstance mean? if it can be false negative 50 to 40% of the time.
Once again there is the setting up of new labs, new structures and byass of the existing trusted NHS structures, networks and expertise.
