USA FDA Gives Emergency Use Authorisation to the Pfizer -BioNTech Coronavirus Vaccine

The mRNA vaccines made by Pfizer-BioNtech and Moderna are fragile, they need to be stored at minus 70 degrees centigrade, they can be thawed and remain viable for up to a maximum of 5 days at 3 to 8 degrees centigrade in a standard refrigerator.

In addition to specialist storage, the product has to be handled very carefully, it is very fragile and cannot sustain rough handling, it can only be moved with much care and cannot be frequently moved either. Thawing the vaccine, diluting it with saline, and slowly carefully drawing it up and giving it to vulnerable people takes time.

It will not be possible to give this vaccine to millions of people in a short time, however, we try and immunise as many people as is possible in as short a time as possible.

The authorisation process has to be independent of Gov. and there ought not to be any political pressure upon the authorisation body to cut any safety corners, we are after all giving a vaccine to otherwise fit and healthy people, thus attention to detail is essential.
